A First-Year Learning Community
About
The Spartan Enterprise Learning Community is designed for first-year students of all majors, the community introduces students to the entrepreneurial mindset and provides opportunities to explore innovation, leadership, and business development.
Through experiential learning, mentorship, collaborative projects, and co-curricular engagement, students will develop entrepreneurial ideas from conception to implementation both inside and outside the classroom. The Spartan Enterprise Learning Community encourages creativity, critical thinking, professional growth, and innovation while helping students build the skills needed to pursue entrepreneurial ventures and leadership opportunities in a variety of industries.
Spartan Enterprise Learning Community Goals
Participants in the Spartan Enterprise Learning Community will:
- Generate and develop innovative and viable business ideas.
- Evaluate the feasibility and sustainability of entrepreneurial concepts.
- Develop foundational entrepreneurial, leadership, and professional skills.
- Create and present a professional business plan.
- Strengthen critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills through experiential learning.
- Explore entrepreneurship as a pathway for leadership, innovation, and career development.
- Engage in co-curricular experiences that support professional networking, creativity, and personal growth.

Requirements: Students who are interested must register for the Learning Communities sections of Spartan Seminar (SEM) 101 and 102 and BUS 284 and BUS 175. Participation in Spartan Enterprise events and activities, as well as scheduled co-curricular Learning Communities events and activities, is mandatory for those in the Spartan Enterprise Learning Community.
