Delinquent Accounts
Pursuant to The Virginia Debt Collection Act, Code of Virginia, Section 2.2-4805 and 2.2-4806, unpaid accounts may be charged interest, administrative charges and penalty fees. Unpaid accounts may also be sent to a collection agency and/or the Virginia Department of Taxation for Setoff Debt in accordance with the guidelines established by the Department of Accounts. Accounts submitted to the Department of Taxation are subject to have their Virginia state income tax refunds and/or lottery winnings attached to repay any debt owed to the Norfolk State University.
Student's Responsibility
In the event an account becomes delinquent, the student is responsible for all reasonable administrative costs, collection costs, and attorney's fees incurred in the collection of funds owed to the University.
Registration & Academic Requests
Students are expected to satisfy all tuition, fees, room and meal costs when charges are incurred. Failure to pay a student account bill or any monies due and owing to Norfolk State University (NSU) by the scheduled date, will result in the prevention of registration for future classes and the receipt of diplomas.
