Here are some ways to reduce water use:
- Water your lawn in the morning or evening: Water your lawn when the sun is not as hot so the water doesn't evaporate as quickly.
- Use a shut-off nozzle: Use a shut-off nozzle on your hose to prevent leaks.
- Defrost food in the fridge: Let frozen foods defrost in the fridge instead of running them under hot water.
- Use a washing-up bowl: Use a washing-up bowl in the sink to reduce the amount of water used.
- Use lids on saucepans: Cover saucepans with lids to reduce water loss while heating.
- Fix leaks: Check for and fix leaky faucets, toilets, and pipes. A dripping tap can waste gallons of water each day.
