High-achieving entering freshmen who meet the requirements for the University’s Presidential and Provost Scholarships also meet the requirements for the RCN Honors College. These students should indicate their interest on their application and contact honors@nsu.edu.
Eligibility for high school students are a minimum SAT (Math + Verbal) score of 1200 and an unweighted high school minimum GPA of 3.3. A minimum ACT score of 24 is also acceptable. For those who do not have test scores, a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.4 is required. All applicants will submit an essay, per the application, along with at least two letters of recommendations—with at least one required to be from a teacher.
Accepted first-year honors scholars are required to maintain a minimum GPA of 3.2, earning at least a B in all “H”/Honors courses at NSU. These accepted scholars may earn a special RCN Honors College diploma by completing a minimum of 30 “H”/Honors course credits, including the GST H capstone, and consistently participating in Honors College activities and events. During their first year, students should take SEM 101H and SEM 102H, along with the other available H courses in their respective curricula.
Transfer students external to NSU, entering with an Associate’s degree require a minimum GPA of 3.2 and two letters of recommendation—with at least one from a teacher. These accepted honors scholars are required to maintain a minimum GPA of 3.2, earning at least a B in all “H”/Honors courses. Transfer students may earn a special RCN Honors College diploma by completing a minimum of 18 “H”/Honors course credits, including the GST H capstone course, and consistently participating in Honors College activities and events.
Transfer students external to NSU, entering without an Associate’s degree require a minimum GPA of 3.3 and two letters of recommendation—with at least one from a teacher. These accepted honors scholars are required to maintain a minimum GPA of 3.2, earning at least B in all “H”/Honors courses. Transfer students without the Associate’s degree may earn a special RCN Honors College diploma by completing a minimum of 30 “H”/Honors course credits, including the GST H capstone course. All transfer students are to consistently participate in Honors College activities and events.
