Lamont Bagby is a Virginia senator of the 9th District. Senator Bagby won a special election in 2023 to fill the Virginia Senate seat vacated by Rep. Jennifer McClellan (D-Va.). Previously, he was a member of the Virginia House of Delegates representing the 74th district, including Charles City County, parts of Henrico County, and Richmond for almost eight years.

Senator Bagby graduated from Norfolk State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education in 1999. Currently, he serves as the chair of the Virginia Legislative Black Caucus. He is a former member of the Henrico County School Board.

Senator Bagby also served on Norfolk State’s Board of Visitors.
