Center for Materials Research

Materials Science is a highly interdisciplinary field based on perspectives from physics, chemistry, electronics, optics and biology. Consortium for Strategic & Global Studies

Founded in 2000, the Consortium for Strategic and Global Studies (CSGS), formerly known as the Center for Strategic and Global Studies, was created to provide interdisciplinary analysis of international relations, foreign policy development, national security, military strategy, and international law. - Consortium for Strategic & Global Studies

Cybersecurity COE

We have created a collaborative effort with Virginia Modeling, Analysis and Simulation Center (VMASC) - Old Dominion University (ODU) to establish and operate a Center of Excellence in Cyber Security (COE-CS) with an emphasis in Cyber Modeling, Simulation, Analysis, and Experimentation (CMSA&E). Cyber modeling and simulation (M&S) offers great benefits in predicting, preparing for, and defending against cyber threats by facilitating the training and assessment of cyber technologies and operations that would be impossible or very difficult to conduct in a real life setting. - Cybersecurity COE

IA-REDI

The Information Assurance Research and Education Development
Institute (IA-REDI) provides opportunities for students to learn about the theory and practice of Information Assurance and Cybersecurity. It has also advanced the discipline of IA/Cybersecurity via research, and is rapidly positioning NSU to be a national leader in cyber related research and education. The programs with cybersecurity focus will address the nation's growing need for a diverse group of qualified computer, network security and cybersecurity professionals. - IA-REDI

IC-CAE

Originally established in 2006 with funds from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), the Norfolk State University (NSU) IC-CAE program was designed to specifically target underrepresented groups, specifically women and racial/ethnic minorities, with varied cultural backgrounds, regional and geographical expertise, language proficiency and related competencies. - IC-CAE

Research & Innovation Foundation

The Norfolk State University Research & Innovation Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) affiliate of Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Virginia. Established in 2001, the Foundation was created to promote applied research and technological innovations, contributing to the Hampton Roads regional economy through fostering and promoting academic research at Norfolk State University. - Research & Innovation Foundation

The Foundation also has established incorporated subsidiary organizations that develop and manage related real estate acquisition project for NSU, the management of those real estate properties, and institutional research commercialization activities. - NSURIF.org

Roberts Center

The Joseph Jenkins Roberts Center was founded by Dr. Cassandra Newby-Alexander and the department of History to serve as a center of excellence for the study of the African Diaspora at Norfolk State University. The center has put on a number of academic and local history conferences related to historic anniversaries of events central to the African-American community. - Roberts Center
