About Student pathways and academic formation

Student Pathways & Academic Formation provides students opportunities to strengthen abilities to enhance their college journey.  Innovative strategies enhance students’ overall learning experiences and post graduate achievements as well as foster environments where students are engaged to learn from the point of entry to the university and beyond.  The department leverages a three-prong approach that focuses on strengthening students’ ABS (Academic Integration, Belonging, and Skill Development).

  • Academic Integration- students connect their skills, abilities, and knowledge acquired during the learning experience with curricular and co-curricular content.
  • Belonging- students participate in activities that foster a sense of inclusion and mattering.
  • Skill Development- students participate in activities that support their holistic development for college rigors and life-long learning.

Student Pathways and Academic Formation is a support unit that assist students with their transition to college and provide skill development opportunities for college rigors and beyond.

Student Pathways and Academic Formation provide services that help students:

  • Navigate the college journey.
  • Explore majors and careers to make informed decisions.
  • Develop skills and competencies for success while in college and post-graduation.
  • Network with industry representatives.
  • Interact with external organizations that provide scholarship and career opportunities.
  1. Does Student Pathways and Academic Formation collaborate with other departments or organizations?

Student Pathways and Academic Formation collaborates with most NSU departments housed in Academic Affairs as well as Student Affairs to enhance the learning experience.  External partnerships established to support students’ endeavors include Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) and United Negro College Fund (UNCF).
