NSU Game Day Parking

The Norfolk State University Spartans will face the Virginia State University Trojans in the Battle of the States Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 6 p.m. Please see the information below on Game Day operations and parking.

Please note:  Due to the Norfolk Tides Game at 6:35 p.m. and the ODU game at 6 p.m., Fans should plan their travel and parking arrangements in advance and allow for extra time as there will be traffic congestion. 

Fast Pass Entry

The Fast Pass gives season ticket holders exclusive access to an expedited entry lane on game day, helping them bypass the general admission lines.

  • Dedicated Fast Pass Lanes are available at every stadium entrance.
  • Locations:
    • Echols Side Entrance
    • Gill’s Side Entrance

There will be signage out for the game and an attendant to direct individuals.

Parking

Parking is limited on NSU’s campus and restricted in nearby neighborhoods. Fans should abide by the posted “No Parking” signs as ticketing and towing will be enforced.

To park on campus on game day all faculty, staff, and student vehicles must display a current NSU decal and may enter campus through Gate 3, Gate 4, or Gate 9 only.

 General Restrictions

  • Gate 1 and Gate 8: Reserved and Credential Parking Only (NSU decals will not be accepted).
  • Gate 1 and Gate 8: Unauthorized vehicles will be towed or relocated at the owner’s expense.

May access:

  • Gate 3 – Lots 22, 23, 24
  • Gate 9 – Lot 7

⚠️ Please note: Residential students are encouraged to remain in their assigned parking lot after 12 noon or risk being towed if parked elsewhere.


 Spartan Suites Decal Holders

May access:

  • Lot 13, Lot 14, and Lot 16
    • Lot 14: Enter via Corprew Avenue (beside the University Police Building)
    • Lot 16: Enter via Gate 3 or Gate 4

Faculty/Staff & Commuter Decal Holders

         Lot 16: Enter via Gate 3 and Gate 4 

         Lot 7: (Spartan Station) enter via Gate 9

  • Parking on Game Day is first come, first served.

Additional Parking

  • MacArthur Center South and North Garages will be available free of charge for game patrons. Buses will queue at MacArthur South Garage to shuttle fans to the stadium.
  • MacArthur Center is three light rail stops from the NSU Station and four stops to Ballentine/Broad Creek Station, the closest to the stadium. Fans parking at the garage can catch The Tide at MacArthur Station for the FREE light rail ride to the stadium.

Complimentary rides are available two hours before and after each game. The two closest light rail stations to the stadium are the NSU Station (coming from the west) and the Ballentine/Broad Creek Station (coming from the east). Light Rail Schedule: https://gohrt.com/routes/light-rail

  • Free park-and-ride lots are also available at the following:
    • Newtown Road Station (Newtown Rd. & Kempsville Rd. with 267 spaces)-- Fills quickly
    • Military Highway Station (Curlew Dr. and Corporate Blvd. with 235 spaces)
    • The parking lot behind the EVMC/Fort Norfolk Station is available for Saturday games only
  • Fans should NOT park in the following lots:
    • The Brambleton Center (909 Marshall Ave.)
    • Phyllis Wheatley Hall (927 Park Ave.)
    • 1500 E. Olney Road and Adjacent Parcels

NSU Game Day Parking & Operations

Norfolk State University kicks off its football season on Thursday, August 28. Please see the information below on Game Day operations and parking.

Classes and Business Operations

  • Asynchronous classes will be held on Thursday, August 28.
  • Non-essential staff will be dismissed at noon as determined by area Vice Presidents.

Parking

To park on campus after 12 p.m. on Thursday, August 28, all faculty, staff, and student vehicles must display a current NSU decal and may enter campus through Gate 3, Gate 4, or Gate 9 only.

General Restrictions

  • Gate 1 and Gate 8: Reserved and Credential Parking Only after 12 p.m. (NSU decals will not be accepted).

Per NSU Parking Policy, reserved parking spaces can be reallocated for special event parking. Parking for “Reserved Parking” decal holders will be available:

  • Gate 9 / Lot 7 – First come, first served

⚠️ Please note: Parking is not guaranteed for Faculty/Staff or Commuter decals on Game Day.
