ABOUT SPICA
SPICA offers support through the Student Pathways Professional Empowerment Academy (SPPEA), SPICA Advisory Committee activities, and micro-credentialing opportunities.
SPPEA employs an integrative learning approach to bridge classroom instruction with workforce skill development and expectations. SPPEA enhances students’ career readiness by developing professional skills essential for work-based opportunities and workforce success. The program also fosters self-awareness by helping students identify personal characteristics that influence workforce preparedness and career transition.
The SPICA Advisory Committee is a collaborative partnership between industry leaders and NSU stakeholders that provides professional insight into workforce expectations and essential competencies through targeted professional development and networking opportunities. Additionally, SPICA hosts networking events that provide students with valuable insights into career pathways and offer guidance on both academic and professional development.
SPICA advances career readiness by embedding industry-recognized micro-credentials into SEM courses and SPICA activities. These credentials enhance students’ employment marketability by validating both technical competencies related to their field of study and essential professional skills. Through this integrated approach, students develop transferable skills that support workforce entry, persistence, and advancement.
OUR APPROACH

· Provides opportunities for students to network with professionals who are associated with their fields of study.
· Sponsors network gatherings where students receive information on career paths and receive guidance on academic and professional goals.
· Implements platforms that track students’ participation in activities outside the classroom to include students’ whole learning experience.
