Online Degrees in Education

Online education Graduate Programs

The School of Education offers several online degrees designed for traditional graduate students and for the busy professional. Four of the degree programs: Special Education General Curriculum K-12, Urban Education Advanced Teacher Preparation programs in English and Mathematics, as well as our Principal Preparation program are offered as accelerated online programs that can be completed in as few as 12 - 18 months at a reduced cost in tuition. 


Master of Arts in Teaching Elementary Education PreK-6

The Master of Arts in Teaching Elementary Education PreK-6 program is available to persons who have a baccalaureate degree in the arts and sciences (or equivalent) and who wish to receive a teaching license in Elementary Education. Methods courses require 20-hour observation-participation field experiences. Students are allowed to enroll in 9 hours before submitting passing scores on PRAXIS I or equivalent. Students must pass the PRAXIS II, VRA, and VCLA to be approved for student teaching. Applicants may be admitted for enrollment in the fall, spring, and summer terms.

The Early Childhood/Elementary and Special Education Department (EESE) provides undergraduate and graduate programs for students seeking preparation to work with young children in the community, agencies, and preK-12 school settings. The goal of the teacher education programs is to prepare competent, compassionate, collaborative, and committed leaders.
