Firewall Services
The University hardware firewalls are managed by the OIT Security & Network Teams. The firewall service provides protection from internal and external threat actors who often attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Norfolk State University campus network. While “unauthorized access” is a broad term, it often describes malicious behavior in the form of vulnerability exploitation, malware, hacking and data exfiltration.
Any application/device needing access out to the internet using non-standard ports (standard ports:80 & 443) or any inbound connectivity from the internet will need to submit a <firewall request>.
Network System Evaluation (For non-standard hardware)
New equipment that is not already on the list of approved devices must be evaluated, before purchase, to ensure it can work within our Commonwealth required security posture and guidelines. They can be found <here>
