Travis Harris PhD, is an interdisciplinary trained Africana scholar. His research examines the depth and breadth of the Black experience, from Africa and throughout the African diasporas around the world. As an internationally known and world renown scholar, his scholarly work has engaged with several fields and disciplines such as Hip Hop, history, religion, anthropology, film and media studies, and education. The one subject that brings all these fields together is a never-ending curiosity to understand the complexities of Black life. With the English and Foreign Language department at NSU, his work primarily focuses on African American and early American literature. He enjoys bringing the Black experience to life in such a way that all the students taking his classes can find themselves within this collective experience all the while growing as a critical thinker and writer.
