Technical Services works to ensure that faculty, staff, and students have access to the tools, applications and the technology needed to accomplish their goals with the least friction possible. Our people keep the infrastructure up to date, available, restorable, and knowable so that end users can focus on their data. We research innovating trends and requests that come from our constituents to be sure we can deliver the tools that improve learning, graduation rates and the technological playing field for our students.

Networking

Telecommunications

Telecommunications Services at Norfolk State University offers Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and mobile services to faculty, staff, and departments. We are responsible for all campus phone services, extension and phone relocations, purchase and set-up of new extensions and phone equipment, establishment of voice mailboxes, installation of phone jacks, and fax lines.

Infrastructure Computing

From the Datacenter, to specific application hosting, to Microsoft 365, Infrastructure Computing provides the platforms for the University to get things done. We are differentiated from Enterprise Applications, in that we host and provide systems that are not tightly connected to the University's ERP system.
