Brief Biography

Mrs. Keirra Wilkins is an Assistant Professor of Biology at Norfolk State University where she instructs General Biology and Microbiology courses. She also serves as the Health Sciences Coordinator for the department. As Health Sciences Coordinator, Mrs. Wilkins assists students with preparing for professional school and careers in the Health Sciences. She strives to encourage academic excellence and provide support to students.

Mrs. Wilkins received her B.S. in Biology at Old Dominion University and completed her graduate studies at the University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Medicine where she received her M.S. in Cellular and Molecular Biomedical Sciences. During her graduate studies, Mrs. Wilkins focused her research on neuroendocrine chaperones and human PCSK1 mutations. Currently, Mrs. Wilkins is conducting research on the isolation and characterization of bacteriophages.
