Brief Biography
Dr. Abdullah-Israel is an Associate Professor of Biology at Norfolk State University. She completed her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biology at Tuskegee University with a concentration in genetics and her doctorate in Plant Pathology at Auburn University. Following completion of her degrees, Dr. Abdullah-Israel was a postdoctoral fellow in the Seeding Postdoctoral Innovators in Research and Education (SPIRE) program at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. During this fellowship Dr. Abdullah-Israel developed research interests science education, microbiology and bacterial pathogenesis. Her current research focuses on how water pollution impacts the diversity and antimicrobial resistance profiles of aquatic bacteria.
