
Robert Randall ’73
Robert Randall, known affectionately as "Frog," is the photographic documenter for the NSU Alumni. Randall graciously volunteers to document university and alumni events via his ever-present camera. It is estimated that he has taken over 10,000 photos and is a highly respected photographer in the Hampton Roads community. Randall has a deep affection for Norfolk State University. He was recognized for his unwavering support of NSU and dedication to public service as a Distinguished Alumnus at the 2025 Alumni Awards. He was inducted into the Lyman Beecher Brooks Society of donors in 2025. In 2018, he established the Robert Randall Endowment Scholarship to support students pursuing degrees in physical education, exercise science, education, or fine arts with a photographic focus.
He spent a tour of duty in Vietnam after being drafted into the US Army. Randall returned to NSU after his military service, and in 1973, graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education. After graduation, he agreed to work for the City of Norfolk as a Housing Inspector. He received a promotion to Senior Inspector after serving for many years. After 38 years of employment, Mr. Randall retired from the City of Norfolk. He has served as president of both the Hampton Roads Council of Veterans Organizations and the NSUAA Chesapeake Chapter. He is a life member of the NSU Alumni Association. The annual Tidewater Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony is the nonprofit organization's most well-known event. Randall was the first African American to hold the position of Parade Grand Marshal for the organization in 2019. The legacy of achievement and service left by Randall continues to motivate
