Derek Dingle is a media expert whose impact on the field continues to uplift Norfolk State's legacy. He has appeared as a business expert on numerous radio shows and television networks, including National Public Radio, CNN, CNBC, and NBC's Weekend Today.

Dingle is Executive Vice President/Chief Content Officer at one of the nation’s most influential and long-standing Black publications—Black Enterprise. Throughout his time with the magazine, Dingle has written multiple cover stories. He is the author of Black Enterprise Titans of the B.E. 100s: Black CEOs Who Redefined and Conquered American Business (1999), Black Enterprise Lessons from the Top: Success Strategies from America’s Leading Black CEOs (2007), and First in the Field: Jackie Robinson, Baseball Hero (1998), which received a 1999 International Reading Association Award. 

Dingle belongs to both the American Society of Magazine Editors and the National Association of Black Journalists. In addition, he has served as a board member of the School of Communications at Norfolk State University. Dingle was the executive editor of Black Enterprise magazine from 2000 to July 2008 and the managing editor from 1987 to 1990 before taking over as editor-in-chief. He covered mutual funds and small company concerns as a senior writer at Money magazine before returning to Black Enterprise. Earlier in his career, Dingle formed Milestone Media Inc., the biggest black-owned comic book firm in the country and held the positions of president and CEO. Between 1992 and 1998, Milestone, distributed by DC Comics, released an average of eight titles per month and sold over 10 million copies.

Dingle earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from Norfolk State University. Additionally, he is a graduate of the Magazine Management Program at New York University.
