
April Holmes ’96
April Holmes is a trailblazer in the field of sports. Within the realm of sports, April's legacy of success, empowerment, and resiliency has changed how people view disabilities and inspired countless lives. On and off the track, she is a true champion.
Currently serving as Chair of the Board of the US Center for SafeSport, she is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. In addition, she is an influential leader and empowering coach. She also broke 14 IPC world records, won three Paralympic medals, and achieved unprecedented heights in Paralympic track and field despite losing her leg in a train accident. In 1996, Holmes received his degree from Norfolk State.
April's influence goes much beyond the track. She promotes greater understanding and acceptance of individuals with disabilities. She is a highly sought-after corporate and motivational speaker who uplifts audiences with her talks on leadership, diversity, motivation, and conquering challenges.
