Biography: Dr. Alexa A. Harris is an Interdisciplinarian with experience in corporate and creative industries. Her research explores Intercultural Communication, Digital Storytelling, Media Literacy, Popular Culture and Rhetoric. Harris recently presented excerpts of her latest research project focused on Intergenerational Workplace dynamics at the 45th Annual Association of Interdisciplinary Studies conference. In 2018, she was selected as one of Spelman College’s Top 40 Under 40 alumnae and in 2016, awarded the Digital Moving Image Salon’s Celebration of Excellence Award from the institution. Harris earned her master’s degree in Documentary Film and History from Syracuse University and doctorate in Communication from Howard University.

- Dr. Alexa A. Harris worked as an Associate Producer on The Harvest, a documentary about Education in the South that recently aired on PBS.
- Dr. Alexa A. Harris shared her latest Intercultural Communication research in a presentation entitled, Do You Hear What I Hear? An Examination of the Role of Listening Tours while Navigating Sudden Shifts in Organizations, at the 45th Annual Association of Interdisciplinary Studies Conference in Lubbock, Texas.
- Dr. Alexa A. Harris served as a panelist for the Kara Walker: Cut to the Quick exhibit during Norfolk State University Night at the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA).
- Dr. Alexa A. Harris presented, Media Literacy 101: Analyzing Daily Usage and Impact in 2023 and Beyond, for the Robert C. Nusbaum Honors College CafĂ©’ at Norfolk State University.
- Dr. Alexa A. Harris served as a panelist for the Crowns of Glory: Ceremony and Culture through Caps, Coiffures, and Coverings, Black Hair and the Resistance program presented by The Norfolk State University Black History Month Committee, Co-Sponsored by The College of Science, Engineering, and Technology and The Division of Fine Arts.
