NSU Preschool Academy

NSU Preschool Academy, formally Child Development Lab, is affiliated with the School of Education. It is a full and part-time early childhood and care program for children ages 3 through 4 ½ years old. We have been in operation since 1980. Our program has a long history of laying a strong foundation for young children’s education.

The NSU Preschool Academy is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) – the nation’s leading organization for early childhood professionals. Our program is licensed by the Virginia Department of Education and participates in Virginia Quality, formally Virginia Star Quality Initiative (VSQI). Virginia Quality is Virginia’s Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS), which assists child care and preschool programs in providing high-quality early care and education services to families.

The program’s academic months are September through May, and our summer program operates during June and July.

The NSU Preschool Academy is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

We encourage that children arrive by 9:00 a.m. to receive the full benefit of the program. 9:30 a.m. is the cut-off for arrival.
