The Office of Clinical Experiences and Student Support Services (OCESS) is a place that is especially organized to assist you, the prospective teacher. You will have the opportunity to engage in experiences that will ease your pathway to becoming a public school educator.
nsu preschool academy
The NSU Preschool Academy is contained within the Department of Early Childhood/ Elementary and Special Education. It is a full time program serving children ages 2 ½ through 5 years old. The program has operated as a full day program since 1980. It has a long history of laying a strong foundation for young children’s education for many years.
B. E. B. Model Classroom
The B.E.B. Model Classroom in the School of Education is being designed to provide the best possible learning environment for students and teachers.

The teacher prep program
The Teacher Prep Student Support Services Program is designed to provide academic support services to one hundred and forty eligible students until they graduate from the university to increase their retention and graduation rates, to facilitate their entrance into the teaching profession with full licensure/certification, and foster an institutional climate of support and success for low-income and-or first generation college students and individuals with disabilities.
Praxis Laboratory
The Praxis Lab was created to enhance the basic reading, writing, and mathematical skills of Norfolk State University Teacher Education students to successfully pass the VCLA, Core Academic Skills for Educators tests using Learning Express and Plato software programs.
Robert Noyce Capacity Building Program at Mathematics Department of Norfolk State University
Introduction: Norfolk State University was funded by NSF for the Robert Noyce Capacity Building Project (June 15, 2022 – May 31, 2023). This webpage aims to communicate the exciting news of the award, to create awareness that the teacher shortage of the STEM workforce does have a solution, and to provide useful resources for current and prospective STEM teachers.
