
Rev. Melvin Marriner
Melvin Marriner has left a huge impact on the legacy of Norfolk State University. A native of Chesapeake, Virginia, following his graduation from Norfolk State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Dr. Marriner pursued further education, obtaining a Doctorate in Ministry from United Theological Seminary and a Master of Divinity from Virginia Union University School of Theology. Dr. Marriner is committed to serving the community in addition to being Grove's Senior Pastor. In addition to being a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Portsmouth Notable, Portsmouth Rotary, and Rotary International, he has presided over the Dr. Martin Luther King Leadership Steering Committee. In addition to serving on the boards of the Portsmouth Community Foundation and Portsmouth Partnership, he is the CEO of Visions of Truth Community Development Corporation. In addition, he serves as the Portsmouth Sheriff's Department chaplain. Furthermore, Dr. Melvin serves as one of today's most thought-provoking and open ministers. Dr. Marriner's main goal is to spread the belief that education can open doors to many opportunities.
