Earl Lee, a proud Norfolk State University alumnus, exemplifies what it means to lead with purpose and give back generously. His journey from NSU’s classrooms to the executive ranks of IBM and beyond reflects a lifetime of achievement and commitment to community.

After earning his B.S. in Electronic Technology in 1984, Earl launched a distinguished career at IBM, where he rose to Program Director before retiring in 2015. His leadership extended beyond corporate success—he actively championed NSU graduates, helping more than 30 Spartans secure careers at IBM, opening doors for future generations.

Lee’s dedication to service spans decades. He served 43 years in the U.S. Army Reserves, retiring as a Command Sergeant Major, a testament to his discipline and patriotism. His entrepreneurial spirit continues today as the owner of JaNay’s Cleaners in Chesapeake, Virginia.

For his achievements, Lee was admitted into Norfolk State University's College of Science, Engineering, and Technology Alumni Stars in 2007. In 2020, Earl received NSU’s Distinguished Alumni Award, recognizing his professional excellence and community contributions. That same year, he joined the Norfolk State University Foundation Board, where his leadership helps advance the university’s mission and fundraising goals.

Lee’s belief that “to whom much is given, much is required” echoes his lifelong commitment to mentorship, philanthropy, and Spartan pride.
