Anthony Walters
Anthony Walters has made a huge impact on the legacy of Norfolk State University. He graduated with a bachelor's degree from Norfolk State University. He is a proud member of the Norfolk Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and a member of the Civic Leadership Institute Class of 2020. Walters is a member of the Virginia Wesleyan Board of Trustees and President and CEO of the South Hampton Roads YMCA. Walters led hundreds of volunteers to complete over 250,000 hours of volunteer work in his prior position as Chief Strategy Officer for the YMCA of South Hampton Roads. All of this work was done to support community concerns outside of local YMCAs.
Furthermore, Walters strives daily to uphold the "For All" part of the Y's mission statement, reminding the community that the Y's doors are open to people of all ages, backgrounds, abilities, and incomes, in keeping with the organization's goal of strengthening the community. His top responsibilities include working alongside volunteers, donors, and community partners to make sure finances are accessible to those who would not otherwise be able to participate in the Y's programs, which have a long-lasting effect on participants' lives and enable them to realize their full potential.
