Spartan Student Parent Network
The Norfolk State University Spartan Student Parent Network (SSP-N) program supports Pell-eligible student-parents with balancing daily responsibilities with academic expectations, helping them to successfully navigate their college journey at the institution. SSP-N supports student-parents by providing targeted success strategies and fostering an inclusive and nurturing community. The program focuses on their unique needs, strengths, and lived experiences as student-parents while cultivating a welcoming environment where student-parents feel respected, valued, and connected to peers, faculty mentors, and the campus community.
Student-parents have opportunities to connect with fellow student-parents, engage with faculty mentors, and become an active part of the campus community. These meaningful relationships are designed to foster engagement, accountability, and success, as student-parents work toward achieving their goals.
OUR MISSION
The mission of the Spartan Student Parent Network is to foster an inclusive community that connects Pell eligible student-parents with peers, faculty mentors, and the campus community to promote academic success, personal wellness, and career preparation. Through access to essential resources, the program empowers student-parents to successfully complete their academic journey and achieve their educational and career goals.
