What is the goal of SSP-N?
SSP-N is designed to support students who are balancing college and parenting responsibilities. The program provides access to academic guidance, financial resources, peer connections, and faculty mentoring to help student-parents succeed and complete their degrees.
Who is eligible to participate in the program? Any Pell eligible in good academic standing currently enrolled NSU student who is a parent or legal guardian of a child is eligible to participate in the Spartan Student Parent Program.
How do I join the Spartan Student Parent Program?
Students can join by completing a program registration form, attending an orientation session, or contacting the program office directly for enrollment assistance.
What types of support does the program offer? The program offers a variety of supports, including
- Faculty mentoring and academic guidance.
- Peer support and networking opportunities.
- Financial resource information and referrals.
- Academic success strategies.
- Personal development and wellness resources.
- Connections to campus and community services.
Does the program provide financial assistance?
Yes. While the program may provide direct financial assistance, there are requirements to be eligible.
How long does the program last?
The program lasts one (1) year. Student-parents enroll in the program during the summer session. Activities end spring of the following academic year.
Are activities in person or virtual?
Both, however, most activities are virtual. Students participate in activities via Bb. SSP-N offers opportunities to build relationships with other student-parents and the campus community through meetings, discussion forums, and events that foster support and shared experiences.
