Cliff Hayes

Cliff Hayes has become a true figurehead for politics. Before being elected to the Virginia House of Delegates, Delegate Hayes spent eight years serving on the Chesapeake City Council. He has over 25 years of experience in technology management. In addition, in 2016, Cliff Hayes was chosen to serve in the Virginia House of Delegates. He was a baseball player and a Management Computer Information Systems major at Norfolk State University. Initiatives include the creation of the Center for African American Public Policy at Norfolk State University, a think tank that offers objective, nonpartisan research on public policy issues affecting African Americans and other people of color in Virginia and around the world. It was the first at an HBCU in the country at the time. Additionally, he fervently assisted in securing $9 million for The Dr. Clarence V. Cuffee Community Center, Chesapeake's first public swimming facility, as a member of Appropriations. During his seven years of service at the state level, he has been able to secure funding for numerous initiatives that benefit our community, some of which include funding for Norfolk State University. For the majority of his life, Cliff has fought for the 91st House District. He thinks that the creation of an even greater Commonwealth of Virginia requires support for economic growth, education, safe communities, and access to high-quality, reasonably priced healthcare. Growing up in the City of Chesapeake's South Norfolk borough, Cliff was taught by numerous local leaders that a community's quality of life must be defended.
