Maintaining A Safe and Inclusive Community

 The campus community at Norfolk State University is committed to ensuring an inclusive and welcoming environment for students, staff, and faculty, and strives to provide an accepting place for all to work and learn.  NSU is a university that welcomes all ideas and a place where people can be themselves. The students, staff, and faculty appreciate the diversity of humanity and reject prejudice and discrimination. 

As of April 1, 2022, Norfolk State University will be going live with an incident reporting system for harassment and discrimination to be used internally or externally. The system design was a major collaboration with Campus Safety, Residential Life, Student Conduct, and the Office of Institutional Equity & Title IX.

Any emergency situation should ALWAYS be reported to Campus Safety and Police, first.

In order to access the system and input a complaint please use NOT@NSU.EDU or https://nsu.guardianconduct.com/incident-reporting/new

If there are incidents or requests regarding students, staff, or faculty, they should all be reported through this system. These incidents would include but are not limited to;

  • Accommodation Request
  • Bias Reporting
  • Discrimination/Harassment
  • Age 40 and Over
  • Color
  • Disability
  • Genetic Information
  • National Origin
  • Pregnancy
  • Race
  • Sex (including gender identity and sexual Orientation)
  • Veterans

 

The Guardian based system by Campus Kaizen, will be updated periodically throughout the year. NSU appreciates your support in trying to eliminate the use of paper while addressing incidents across the university, in a timely manner.

The university asks for the cooperation of the campus community in monitoring the campus climate by reporting all incidents and crimes.

(Office of Accessibility Services/International Student Services) & Assistive Technology Laboratory (AT Lab) is to promote the academic success of students with disabilities and international students through high-quality educational assistance, leveling the playing field, and providing services and accommodations.

Title IX
Norfolk State University (NSU) is committed to providing an environment that emphasizes the dignity, respect and self-worth of every member of its community. NSU’s Title IX Policy promotes a campus community that is free of any form of interpersonal violence which may include harassment, sexual violence, stalking, child abuse/neglect, dating violence and retaliation.
