About
American Association of University Professors
The American Association of University Professors (AAUP) is an organization of professors and other academics in the United States. Founded in 1915 in New York City, it is currently headquartered in Washington, D.C.
AAUP membership includes over 500 local campus chapters and 39 state organizations. Your membership in the AAUP strengthens our collective voice. Dues support essential work at both the national and local levels—including advocacy for academic freedom, defense of tenure, and the promotion of fair working conditions.
By becoming a dues-paying member, you invest in the long-term health of higher education and join a network committed to the integrity of the academic profession. National dues are based on your academic income. A digital subscription to AAUP’s magazine Academe is included in your membership. Join at https://www.aaup.org/join.
