Spartan Women Punch Ticket to NCAA "Big Dance"

By clinching the MEAC Women’s Tournament title on Saturday, the Spartan women’s basketball team earned a spot in the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Tournament as a No. 15 seed. It’s their second consecutive appearance in the “Big Dance.” They will go against No. 2 Stanford Friday, March 22, 7 p.m. PT, at Maples Pavilion.

NSU Students Attend TMCF Conference

Student Pathways and Academic Formation accompanied 39 Norfolk State University students to the 2nd Annual Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) DevCon event held in Baltimore, MD, March 6-10, 2024. The department partnered with TMCF Talent Managers to prepare students for the four-day professional development event designed to enhance the professional aspirations of freshman and sophomore students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The goal of the event is to identify and develop high-potential HBCU talent.

NSU Hosts Teacher Workshop

In Fall 2023, the Elizabeth River Project was awarded a competitive National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) B-WET grant to bring hands-on environmental education programs to all 6th graders and their teachers in Portsmouth, VA for the next three years. Through this grant, they are partnering with Portsmouth Public Schools, Norfolk State University and Old Dominion University.

Social Work month is a national celebration of the social work profession held every March. The National Association of Social Work selects a theme for each year. This year's theme is 'Empowering Social Workers: Inspiring Action, Leading Change'.

Cyber Director Praises NSU Cyber Program

During his visit to Norfolk State University, National Cyber Director Harry Coker Jr. praised Norfolk State for its exemplary cybersecurity program. He based his assessment on the University’s designation by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security as a Center of Academic Excellence.

NSU Alumnus Performs at the Oscars

NSU alum at the Oscars 

Dushaun Thompson, a 2016 NSU graduate, showcased his talents on one of Hollywood's grandest stages as he took part in the 96th Academy Awards ceremony. Recalling the experience, Thompson shared, "Being part of that stage with some of the greatest entertainers of our time was truly an honor."
