Freshman
Enroll in MSL 101 and MSL 101D if enrolling in the fall semester. If entering in the spring semester enroll in MSL 102 and MSL 102D.

Sophomores
There are several options:

1) If you are entering the program in the fall semester you can "accelerate" the Basic Course by taking MSL 101/101D and MSL 201/201D in the same semester, and then take MSL 102/102D and MSL 202/202D during the spring semester (basically taking the Freshman and Sophomore level courses in one year).

2) If you are entering the program in the spring semester, you can enroll in MSL 102/102D and then attend the Basic Campduring the summer between your Sophomore and Junior year. Basic Camp slots are limited.

3) If you have prior military service (have been to basic training), at least two years of JROTC experience, or at least one year of SROTC experience through another military branch, you may be given credit for the first year of Army ROTC and enroll in MSL 201/201D.

Juniors
If you have prior military service (have been to basic training), at least three years of JROTC experience, graduated from the Leaders Training Course (LTC), or have completed two years of SROTC through another military branch you may enter the program as a Junior, provided that you are ready and qualified to contract upon enrollment.

Seniors
There are no options for Seniors to enroll in the ROTC program. However, if a Senior is going to pursue a Masters Degree at NSU, they could go to LTC during the summer after graduation and enter the Advanced Course as a Graduate Student.

Graduate Students
Graduate Students must attend the Leaders Training Course (LTC) unless they have prior military service or have completed the Army ROTC Basic Course during their undergraduate studies. They must also have at least two years remaining and be qualified to contract prior to entering the Advanced Course.

Transfer Students

If you have 2 years remaining to finish your degree
You will have to attend the Basic Camp during the summer before you can enroll in the Advanced Course unless you have prior military service, JROTC experience (at least 3 years), or completed the Basic Course at another university.

If you have 3 years remaining to finish your degree
You will have to "accelerate" the Basic Course by signing up for MSL 101, 101D, 201, and 201D in the Fall semester and MSL 102, 102D, 202, and 202D in the Spring semester. You may receive Basic Course credit if you have prior military service, JROTC experience, or completed ROTC courses at another university.

If you have 4 years remaining to finish your degree
Sign up for MSL 101 and MSL 101D if starting classes in the Fall semester or MSL 102 and MSL 102D if starting classes in the Spring semester, just as though you were a traditional Freshman.

If you have less than 2 years remaining to finish your degree
There are no options available. You do not have enough time remaining to complete all of the requirements of the Army ROTC program. However, if you have plans to attend Graduate School at NSU, there may be options available. Please contact us for more information.
