Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VI) prohibits discrimination based on race, color, or national origin in programs or activities that receive Federal financial assistance. Furthermore, individuals cannot be retaliated against for opposing an unlawful educational practice or policy, or for making charges, testifying, or participating in any complaint action under Title VI. Title VI includes employment and employment practices.
Discrimination is defined as inequitable treatment by NSU of a person based on one or more of that person’s protected characteristics or statuses, expecting any treatment permitted or required by law.
