New Help Desk Procedures

Our highest priority is the health and safety of the NSU Community. The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is making changes in order to protect our customers and our staff.  Beginning 3 AprilOIT Client Services Helpdesk will no longer provide walkup services. All OIT on-campus services will be by appointment only.  Please call the Help Desk at (757) 823-8678 to make the appointments. Stay Safe.

  • Need Help?

    To obtain the help you need, contact Client Services at clientservices@nsu.edu or submit a ticket

     

  • Computer Specifications

    Norfolk State University OIT offers a list of suggested standardized computer specifications for faculty and staff based on the most current technologies for desktops and laptops through Dell, our preferred vendor.

    Only items in the standard configurations area are approved NSU configurations. Please contact OIT Client Services at 757-823-8678 or email clientservices@nsu.edu for further assistance.

  • Update Directory Information

    Keep your up-to-date.

    • Go to The University's Directory.
    • Select Directory in the very top navigation.
    • Click on the Logon link at the top right of the screen.
    • Log in using your NSU username and password.
    • Click on the Edit icon at the top right of your screen. 
    • On the edit page, you can make changes to all available fields. To save your changes, click on the Save button at the bottom right of the screen.
    • Changes are posted immediately.  You may contact OIT if you need further assistance at clientservices@nsu.edu or 757-823-8678.
  • Share Files

    Filelocker allows you to share files with other people both inside and outside of Norfolk State University.

  • MOAT Security Awareness Training

    Complete the MOAT certification for required training and policy acceptance. 
  • myNSU Portal

    myNSU is a central hub for information and online services.
  • New Account

    To request a new account download the:

    • Resource Authorization Request Form (Information Security Awareness Access Form)
    • and the related Information Security Access Agreement Form

    These forms are located on the OIT Forms webpage.

    Complete the online Security Awareness Training and forward certificate and the completed forms to Human Resources.

  • I need to change or reset my password

    Password Reset


    Remember passwords must be a combination of upper and lowercase letters, numbers and special characters and be no less than eight(8) characters.

    Change my Password​

    • Use the Self-Service Password Reset Tool
    • If you have not already done so, please create a profile before changing or resetting your password.
    • Click either Change my Password.
    • Enter our NSU user name and password.
    • You can generate a password or enter your own.
    • After you have entered and confirmed your password, click Change Password.
    • The change will happen immediately.

    To Reset my Password

    • Enroll in Self-Service Password Reset
    • If you have not already done so, please create a profile before changing or resetting your password.
    • Enter your username.
    • Enter the answer to your security questions. 
    • Change your password.

     

  • Policies

    Become familiar with the NSU Acceptable Use of Technological Resources and other policies.

    Contact Telecommunications for your telecommunication needs.
  • Virtualization & Collaboration Center

    The mission of the VCC is to provide a professional environment for onsite and remote collaborations, visualization, and training which will infuse excellence and innovation in support of a wide variety of academic, administrative, and commercial opportunities. This is achieved through the use of advanced computing, high-level communications, information technologies, and virtualization environments.

    ABOUT THE VCC

    The VCC is located on the fourth floor of the Marie V. McDemmond Center for Applied Research, measures approximately 2400 square feet and is comprised of two main rooms plus other support spaces. The large room has a capacity of 36 people and the small room a capacity of 12. In adherence to its Mission Statement and as a part of the Information Technology Services (ITS), the VCC supports: Homeland and National Security Diplomatic Relations Economic and Social Development Educational and Cultural Exchange Global Community Outreach E-learning Academic Research.
