Glenn Carrington, J.D.
Glenn Carrington served as dean of Norfolk State University’s School of Business, where he championed real-world readiness and entrepreneurship. His leadership emphasized strategic administration, aggressive fundraising, and strong industry partnerships. Believing graduates should be “First Day Ready,” Carrington launched a program by that name to ensure students could immediately contribute in the workplace—solving problems and adapting with minimal training. He reinforced this vision by forging relationships with nearly 50 companies, blending academic rigor with practical experience.
Carrington also spearheaded the creation of the NSU Innovation Center in downtown Norfolk, an incubator and accelerator designed to support startups and entrepreneurs. The center offers coworking and office space, meeting facilities, and networking opportunities, fostering collaboration and growth within the regional business ecosystem.
Before joining NSU, Carrington built an impressive career spanning more than three decades in corporate tax accounting and financial transactions. He held senior roles at leading firms, including serving as an executive board member at Ernst & Young and managing partner of Arthur Andersen’s National Tax Office. His public service includes positions as branch chief in the Office of the Assistant Chief Counsel (Corporation) and Assistant Chief Counsel (Income Tax and Accounting) at the Internal Revenue Service.
Carrington’s vision and expertise have left a lasting impact on Norfolk State University, preparing students to excel in competitive business environments while advancing innovation and entrepreneurship.
