Brehanna Daniels ’16
Brehanna Daniels is a pioneer for women in the NASCAR field. She is the first Black female pit crew member in NASCAR history. Daniels won the ARCA race at Nashville's Fairgrounds Speedway in 2017, becoming the first African American woman to go over the wall in a national racing series. She pitted for Cody Ware in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, Mike Harmon in the Xfinity Series, and ARCA driver Thad Moffit at Toledo Speedway in Ohio as a tire changer. Daniels was a point guard for the Spartans women's basketball team when NASCAR's Drive for Diversity program started. In 2016. Daniels was one of ten people chosen from across the nation to participate in this program. Daniels debuted as a participant on Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's NBC reality competition series, The Titan Games, because of her physical prowess. In addition, she became the first Black woman to work in a pit crew in a national NASCAR race at the Coke Zero Sugar 400 annual car race at Daytona International Speedway and later the NASCAR Cup Series. She left her mark on history and on Norfolk State University with her innate talents and drive.
