Strengthening Awareness and Fostering Empowerment (SAFE)
The SAFE Office, an initiative of the Office for Access & Equal Opportunity, provides prevention education and outreach focused on creating a campus culture rooted in respect, safety, and accountability. Through engaging workshops, awareness campaigns, campus events, and peer-led initiatives, the SAFE Office educates the Norfolk State University community on topics including consent, healthy relationships, sexual assault, dating and domestic violence, stalking, and bystander intervention. We collaborate with campus and community partners to empower Spartans with the knowledge and skills to help create a safer campus for everyone.
SAFE Space Peer Educator Program
SAFE Space is the SAFE Office's student peer education program. Peer Educators are trained student leaders who promote healthy relationships, consent, bystander intervention, and violence prevention across campus. They assist with educational programs, awareness events, outreach initiatives, and serve as ambassadors for creating a safer campus community. Students interested in joining the SAFE Space Peer Educator Program who have a passion for leadership, advocacy, and gender-based violence prevention are encouraged to apply during the spring semester of each academic year.
