VBHEC Library Services
Bibliographic instruction guides students in processes of research and investigation of topics using a wide range of sources. A demonstration will be provided on how to access indices and how to locate full-text journal articles. Tutorials are available for downloading in iTunes.
The Virginia Beach Higher Education Center offers a consultation service to students and faculty involved in research. The purpose of this service is to provide professional advice on research strategies so students and faculty can obtain information pertinent to their research projects. Assistance is available to identify information needs, construct effective search strategies, and to locate authoritative online resources.
A literature search is a list of references on a specific topic. This list may include journal articles or chapters of books. References are obtained by searching the Lyman Beecher Brooks library catalog; or our scholarly electronic database. Once you have completed your literature search, all requests for articles must be submitted on the appropriate interlibrary loan form.
If the Lyman Beecher Brooks library does not own the book or articles you require, you may request an interlibrary loan from another library. Please note that Interlibrary loan requires approximately 7 to 14 days for delivery.
Books and journal articles can be delivered to the Virginia Beach Higher Education Center site for collection in Room 146. To have materials delivered, you must have current status as a registered NSU student.
