Mission Statement

Norfolk State University at the Virginia Beach Higher Education Center expands access to high-quality community and professional education by delivering responsive programs and providing a collaborative space for learning, engagement and connection. Through flexible educational offerings and community partnerships, the Center supports lifelong learning, training for career development and advancement and support for regional vitality. 

GOals

  • Expand Access to Non-Credit Training and Education 

Provide accessible, flexible community education programs that meet the evolving needs of a variety of learners. 

  • Provide Professional Education 

Offer non-credit education and training programs that enhance skills, credentials and career mobility in alignment with regional and industry needs. 

  • Serve as a Community Hub 

Provide welcoming, well-equipped space for meetings, trainings and small events that foster collaboration among NSU faculty, staff and students, community organizations, employers and regional partners. 

  • Strengthen Community Partnerships 

Build and sustain partnerships with local governments, businesses, community organizations and educational institutions to co-create programs and opportunities that benefit the Hampton Roads region. 

  • Ensure Quality and Sustainability 

Deliver high-quality programs and services through efficient operations, a focus on continuous quality improvement and the acquisition of sustainable resources. 

Accreditation

Norfolk State University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award associate, baccalaureate, masters, and doctorate degrees. Norfolk State University also may offer credentials such as certificates and diplomas at approved degree levels.
