Afrobeats FEST 757 Returns to Student Center

Tidewater African Cultural Alliance and Norfolk State University Dance Theatre will hold the 4th annual Afrobeats FEST 757. The mini-festival will take place through four events at the NSU Student Center.

• Friday, November 11, 6:30-8:30 pm: Afrobeats Dance Workshops with internationally acclaimed dancer/choreographer Akosua Akoto of Ghanaian heritage who has been featured in videos for such stars as Janet Jackson, Jidenna, Machel Montano, and Fally Ipupa; and Cameroonian-born Henry LeSheriff.

• Friday, November 11, 6:30-8 pm: Afrobeats Vocal Master Class with 2022 Ghana Entertainment Awards USA Entertainer of the Year Jay Hover.

• Saturday, November 12, 2:30-4:30 pm: Afrobeats Dance Off Competition for Adults and Youth, with guest artist Nigerian born Demola, the Violinist. Cultural scholarship prizes to be awarded to the top 3 teams in each category.

• Saturday, November 13, 6:30-9 pm: (West African) Dinner Concert featuring Demola, the Violinist and Jay Hover.

All events are open to the public. Vendors will be available 2-9 pm Saturday at the Student Center. The Afrobeats FEST 757 is made possible in part by grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, VA Commission for the Arts, City of Norfolk (Norfolk ARTS), and Zumba Fitness, LLC.
