Congratulations to the Ideal Spartan Winners

The Division of Student Affairs, in collaboration with the Ideal Spartan Committee, presents the Ideal Spartan winners for the academic year.

Students were nominated by the campus community and winners were selected based on their contributions to the University environment. Winners exhibited actions that fostered Civility, Pride, Engagement, Curiosity, Integrity and Excellence.

Excerpts from her nomination are as follows:
Zyaira Sonnebeyatta exemplifies the Ideal Spartan and its values through her words and more importantly her actions.  She is sincere in her desire to bring positive change while enhancing the student experience at NSU.  

As a Resident Assistant, Zyaira always encourages civility among her residents and peers. She also engages the University community as President of the Student Ambassadors, and serves as the SGA Associate Justice.  Zyaira does not let curiosity be a barrier to seeking answers and gaining a greater understanding of resources that are available for Spartans.

Zyaira has shown pride and integrity through her customer service skills in the NSU Bookstore. She has also provided insight to the University on how to effectively connect with the current generation of NSU attendees.  

Zyaira strives for excellence daily and exudes what it truly means to be an Ideal Spartan.

Excerpts from her nomination are as follows:
Seanna Lee is focused on achieving with excellence, committed to academic success, and willing to assist her peers. She is an outstanding student in the School of Business. She always represents NSU and the School of Business in a professional manner. Seanna has held the distinction of being an honors student each and every semester.

Serving as a School of Business Student Ambassador, Seanna provides tutoring and mentoring to her peers. She volunteers in the community and serves as the Event Coordinator for the SGA. She has great interpersonal skills, displays integrity, communicates in a professional manner with administrators, and has exceptional leadership skills.

Seanna is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.

Excerpts from her nomination are as follows:
Tynniesia Wilson has contributed to the University environment with actions that foster civility, pride, engagement, curiosity, integrity and excellence.  

Tynniesia has been attending NSU as a full-time student in the Robert C. Nusbaum Honors College and is a student- athlete. She is a member of the NSU NCAA Track and Field Team. Moreover, she works part-time as a fitness trainer at the YMCA of South Hampton Roads. She is fueled by her love of NSU while maintaining her ultimate goal of becoming a kinesiotherapist.  

Tynniesia has been successful in achieving an outstanding GPA!  She always represents NSU with valor. She represents the life of an Ideal Spartan – an unending quest for excellence.

Tynniesia is admired by faculty, staff and her peers for setting universal standards of excellence. She is a positive and energetic person who willingly seeks new experiences. She stands out in commitment and service to the community. She has been engaged in several volunteer experiences with the community such as Norfolk Public School’s Big Feet Meet, blood drives and CPR classes. Tynniesia has served as Secretary for the Exercise Science Majors Club and Team Captain for NSU Track and Field. She is also an active member of the National Society of Leadership and Success, and is constantly engaged with peers and leaders in the pursuit of excellence and the common good.  

This Ideal Spartan is constantly training as an athlete, student, leader and professional while willingly taking on new challenges. She has a love for learning and the enthusiasm to work with individuals of all abilities. Tynniesia Wilson is the Ideal Spartan!
