Department of Nursing and Allied Health

Mrs. Sandra Olanitori, MS, RN, Nursing Faculty and Mrs. Melody Armstrong, MPA,
BSN, RN, CNOR (E), Nursing and Allied Health Faculty presented at the Northeast Region, Inc. of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc., 70th Conference on Thursday, April 21, 2022.  The panel presentation was entitled “Northeast Region Health Advocacy 101 for Nurses.”

Rosalyn V. Gardiner, PhD, RN, NE-BC, WHNP-BC, CINE Instructor and Sibena Samuel-Harris, PhD, RN, CNE, Clinical Coordinator and Mrs. Sandra Olanitori, MS, RN, Nursing Recruiter, participated in the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA), conference.   HOSA is an international career and technical student organization endorsed by the U.S. Department of Education and the Health Science Technology Education Division of the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE).  The 42nd Virginia HOSA State Leadership Conference was held at the Doubletree by Hilton in Williamsburg, Virginia on March 11-13, 2022. Dr. Gardiner and Dr. Samuel-Harris were judges of the HOSA students’ presentations of specific procedures.

Naval Science Program

Daniel Ervin received the Association of USN Patriotism award for his hard-work ethic and outstanding character within the NSU ROTC Unit on 23 April.

Tyler Yeldell received the USAA Spirit award for embodying the core Navy values to the highest extent on 23 April.

Thomas Germano received the National Naval Officers Association award for his dedication to military service and outstanding moral character on 23 April.

Melody Gonzalez received the Sons of the American Revolution award for her dedication to physical fitness and leadership within the NSU ROTC unit on 23 April.

Nicholas Hanford-Garcia received the CNO Distinguished Midshipmen award for his high standards of leadership, scholarship, and military performance for the Hampton Roads Navy ROTC Battalion on 23 April.

Nicholas Hanford-Garcia also received the Navy League Hampton Roads Council award for his outstanding GPA, community service and leadership in the NSU ROTC Unit on 23 April.
Dominic St. Ange received the Williamsburg Yorktown Council Navy League award for his exemplary motivation and dedication to military service on 17 April.

Samuel Manqueros received the Reserve Organization of America award for his high GPA, leadership and military performance within the NSU ROTC unit on 23 April.

J’drien Jones supervised two major recruiting events with Junior Navy ROTC high schools. He successfully briefed 30+ students from Lake Taylor High and Newton-Conover High about the benefits of NSU Navy ROTC.
