1. What are the Student Success Tutoring Lab’s hours of operation?
The Student Success Tutoring Lab is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

2. Who is eligible to use the Student Success Tutoring Lab?
Tutoring services are available free of charge to currently enrolled Norfolk State University students. Students are encouraged to take advantage of tutoring as an academic resource whether they are seeking additional assistance, preparing for an exam, or looking to strengthen their academic performance.
3. How do I schedule a tutoring appointment?
Tutoring appointments can be scheduled through WCOnline up to two hours in advance, based on tutor availability.
4. Does the Student Success Tutoring Lab offer tutoring after regular operating hours?
Yes. NSU students have free, 24/7 access to online academic support through Tutor.com.
Tutor.com provides live, personalized tutoring in a variety of subjects, basic mathematics, calculus, human anatomy and physiology, accounting, and so much more, Students can access Tutor.com through Blackboard under the Tools menu.
5. How long are tutoring sessions?
Tutoring sessions typically range from 30 minutes to one hour, depending on the type of appointment and tutor availability.
6. What should I bring to my tutoring session?
Students should come prepared with materials that will help the tutor understand the course and specific area of support needed. Please bring:

7. What subjects are available for tutoring?
Tutoring availability varies by semester based on student needs, course demand, and tutor availability. The Student Success Tutoring Lab prioritizes academic support for courses that have historically presented challenges for students. If you do not see your course listed on WCOnline, please contact the Student Success Tutoring Lab to explore available support options.
8. Do I have to be struggling in a course to use tutoring?
No! Tutoring is for every student. Students can use tutoring to:

9. Can a tutor complete my assignment for me?
No. Tutors are available to support your learning and understanding, but they cannot complete assignments, exams, or other graded coursework on your behalf.
Tutors can help students understand concepts, work through practice problems, review drafts, and develop strategies for completing their own coursework.
10. What if my course is not listed for tutoring?
If tutoring is not currently available for your course, contact the Student Success Tutoring Lab at studentsuccess@nsu.edu. We will identify alternative academic support resources or other campus resources.
11. Can I walk in without an appointment?
No. Appointments are required to ensure that a tutor is available to assist you.
12. What should I do if I need to cancel my appointment?
If you are unable to attend your scheduled appointment, please cancel or reschedule through WCOnline as soon as possible.
13. Can tutors help me prepare for an exam?
Yes. Tutors can help you review course concepts, work through practice problems, identify areas that require additional study, and develop effective study strategies.
For the best results, students are encouraged to seek academic support in advance, rather than waiting until the last minute.
