Chief of Staff to the President
Dr. Carl W. Haywood is Chief of Staff and serves as a senior advisor to the President on university operations and strategic management processes.  He also facilitates communications with the President's Cabinet and other senior leaders in support of presidential decision making.  As past Chair of the Department of Visual and Performing Arts and Director of Choral Activities, his leadership in that area resulted in the re-accreditation of both undergraduate and graduate programs in music by the National Association of Schools of Music. Dr. Haywood is an alumnus of NSU with over forty years of service as an administrator, conductor, an advocate for student success. He is the composer of the NSU Alma Mater and holds graduate degrees from Southern Methodist University and the University of Southern California.

Executive Advisor to the President and Board of Visitors for Policy, Compliance, and University Ombudsman​

Ericke S. Cage serves as Executive Advisor to the President and Board of Visitors for Policy, Compliance, and University Ombudsman. As a member of NSU’s executive management team, Cage provides senior policy counsel to the University President and Board of Visitors on a wide range of issues impacting higher education administration and governance. Cage leads NSU’s policy making process, serves as the University’s senior compliance executive, and supports the advancement of an institutional culture of dignity and respect by acting as the organizational Ombudsman. As a senior advisor to the President, Cage provides confidential policy counsel, analyses, and executive level support on issues related to university governance, strategic planning, and supports information sharing between the President’s Office and NSU Board of Visitors. A native of Halifax County, Virginia, Cage is a distinguished graduate of Virginia Tech and the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets where he earned degrees in Political Science and Leadership. He went on to receive his Juris Doctorate from the Rutgers Law School and a Masters of Law in Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution from The George Washington University. Cage is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force's Air Command and Staff College and the University of Virginia’s Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership. He brings more than a decade of public policy experience to the university.

Assistant to the President for Constituent Communications

Denise Y. Dye (Dee Dee) is the Assistant to the President for Constituent Communications. She has served the Commonwealth of Virginia as the Assistant to the President of Virginia State University for twenty-one years, bringing to her current position a wealth of knowledge in higher education, as it relates to constituent communications. Prior to her tenure with the Commonwealth, Mrs. Dye served as Assistant to the Medical Director, Radiology Administrator, and Radiologists at Multi-Hospital High Tech Services in Richmond, Virginia, an affiliate of Bon Secours Health Systems, Inc. She was also employed with Bon Secours - St. Mary's Hospital for more than fifteen years. Mrs. Dye has a Bachelor of Business Administration from Averett University, and in the fall of 2016 will pursue a Master of Business Administration degree in Leadership. Dee Dee and her family reside in the Varina District of Henrico County, Virginia.

Office Manager/Board Liaison

As Office Manager/Board Liaison, Mrs. Allbritton provides support to the NSU Board of Visitors and facilitates the workflow in the Office of the President. She has been with the President's Office since July 2000. Prior to that she worked for the Office of Legislative Affairs and the NSU Athletics Foundation for approximately six years.  As a member of the NSU Association of Educational Office Professionals, she has served as Vice President, Administrative Liaison to the President and chaired numerous committees. Mrs. Allbritton is currently a member of the National Association of Educational Office Professionals. On the national level, she has served as a member of the Long-Range Planning Committee, the Higher Education Committee, the Public Relations and Publications Committee and the Foundation Scholarship Committee. Mrs. Allbritton attended Norfolk State University.

Financial Services Specialist I

Mrs. Gaymon serves as the Financial Services Specialist I in the Office of the President. Her responsibilities include financial accounting, tracking correspondences, conference room scheduling and maintaining business and community databases. Prior to her appointment in April 2004, Mrs. Gaymon was employed by NSU's Center for Entrepreneurship. She is a member of the NSU Association of Educational Office Professionals.
