Summer Bridge Program
Once an applicant has been offered a scholarship for the DNIMAS Program, they will be required to attend the Pathway to the STARS Summer Bridge Program.
The Pathway to the STARS Summer Bridge Program is an in-house summer program that spans across four weeks. Students will reside on campus for the entire duration of the program.
This program is mandatory for incoming freshmen under the College of Science, Engineering and Technology (CSET) who have been awarded the DNIMAS and any other CSET scholarship. It is also available to any other CSET incoming freshmen who would like to participate in this program as well.
The Pathway to the STARS Summer Bridge Program is designed to give these CSET students a jump start towards their academic success. During the summer program, some of them will be engaged in mathematics, chemistry, physics, seminars, and fun activities. In this environment, these students will have the opportunity to bond with one another, become acclimated to the university, faculty, other current students, and the Hampton Roads area.
Summer Bridge Orientation
Upon acceptance of your DNIMAS Scholarship, you and your parents/guardian will be required to attend the Pathway to the STARS Summer Bridge Program Orientation. DNIMAS Scholarship recipients will receive correspondence from the DNIMAS Office regarding information about the Summer Program and the Orientation.
At the Orientation, information will be shared that will advise students, parents/guardians about the requirements of the Pathway to the STARS Summer Bridge Program and its expectations. There will also be expert presenters who will share pertinent information concerning your stay on campus during the summer and your upcoming matriculation at the university.
