Parade Marshal
We are pleased to announce that Norfolk State University will host its annual Homecoming Parade at 8 a.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2024, starting at Booker T. Washington High School. The Honorable L. Louise Lucas ’71 & ’82, President pro tempore, Virginia's 18th State Senate District has accepted our invitation to serve as grand marshal of our parade.
We are accepting applications for this year’s parade. At NSU, we are fully committed to providing the Spartan community with a meaningful and impactful homecoming experience.
The registration deadline for your organization to enter the parade was Tuesday, October 1, at 11:59 p.m.
Please note: Due to limited staging/line-up space, Car Clubs are not allowed to participate in the parade. Per the parade unit rules, guidelines, and information, the Homecoming Parade Committee reserves the right to restrict, limit, accept, or reject any unit application.
Parade Route
Parade Route Change as of 10/25/24
The Norfolk State University Homecoming Parade route will be changed due to a natural gas line repair on Gym Road and Corprew Avenue behind the Police Building. At this time, the roads will remain closed through Monday, October 28.
The Melvin and Patricia Stith Alumni House is closed.
The new parade route will start on Virginia Beach Blvd., make a right turn onto Majestic Avenue, a right turn onto Corprew Avenue, and a right onto Kenton Avenue. It will then turn left onto Myrtle Avenue, make a left on Marathon Avenue, and then a right onto Corprew. - Click here for the map
