U.S. Army 1st Lt. Angelena Garland, a Norfolk State University alumna, served as the lead escort during the wreath-laying ceremony that was part of the January 20 inauguration ceremonies for President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. Garland’s duties during the ceremony, held at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery, was to escort First Lady Jill Biden, Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff and Tracy Jones, the wife of the Commanding General, U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Omar Jones. Former presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton and former first ladies Michelle Obama, Laura Bush and Hillary Rodham Clinton also participated in the ceremony.
