SESL Program Requirements

Friday, November 1, 2019 is the Deadline  for all required documents to be received in the School of Graduate Studies and Research in order to be eligible for admission into an Urban Education program beginning Spring 2020 semester.  Late applications will be eligible for Fall 2020 admission

 

Urban Education/Administration and Supervision PreK-12 (Online)
The Administration and Supervision PreK-12 Principal Preparation Program requires that applicants have the following:

  • An undergraduate degree from an accredited institution
  • Complete an NSU online Graduate application
  • A minimum undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of 2.5
  • Pass the SLLA exam before taking the internship
  • The candidates are expected to have three years of experience as certified teachers prior to admission (provisional licensure is not accepted)
  • Copy of Teaching License
  • Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended
  • Three letters of recommendation from faculty or employers familiar with the applicant's academic and professional background
  • A personal statement of the applicant’s professional interests and goals
  • Resume
     

Urban Education/Community Counseling
The Community Counseling program requires that applicants have the following:

  • An undergraduate degree from an accredited institution
  • Complete an NSU online Graduate application
  • A minimum undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of 2.5
  • Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended
  • Three letters of recommendation from faculty or employers familiar with the applicant's academic and professional background
  • A personal statement of the applicant’s professional interests and goals
  • Resume
     

Urban Education/Curriculum Development and Supervision
The Curriculujm Development and Supervision program requires that applicants have the following:

  • An undergraduate degree from an accredited institution
  • Complete an NSU online Graduate application
  • A minimum undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of 2.5
  • The candidates are expected to have three years of experience as certified teachers prior to admission (provisional licensure is not accepted)

  • Three letters of recommendation from faculty or employers familiar with the applicant's academic and professional background
  • A personal statement of the applicant’s professional interests and goals

MAT Program
The MAT program requires that applicants have the following:

  • An undergraduate degree from an accredited institution
  • Complete an NSU online Graduate application
  • A minimum undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of 3.0
  • Pass the Praxis Core/ VCLA / SAT/ ACT tests
  • Pass Praxis II (before finishing the program)
  • Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended
  • Three letters of recommendation from faculty or employers familiar with the applicant's academic and professional background
  • A personal statement of the applicant’s professional interests and goals
  • Resume
  • Complete a Certificate of Preliminary Endorsement form which has been completed by an advisor in the academic department of intended major (completed after the interview)


Master of Arts Subject Area Concentration (MASAC)
The MASAC program requires that applicants have the following:

  • An undergraduate degree from an accredited institution
  • Complete an NSU online Graduate application
  • A minimum undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of 2.5
  • Copy of Teaching License
  • Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended
  • Three letters of recommendation from faculty or employers familiar with the applicant's academic and professional background
  • A personal statement of the applicant’s professional interests and goals
  • Resume
  • Complete a Certificate of Preliminary Endorsement form which has been completed by an advisor in the academic department of intended major (completed after the interview)
