Modern States Education Alliance (Modern States) is committed to supporting Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Modern States has partnered with Norfolk State University to create new opportunities for Virginia students to take giant leaps in their education with a new pathway to Norfolk State University.
The Fast Start program empowers high school students to direct their own futures through an affordable higher education by earning free college credit through College Board's College Level Examination Program (CLEP). Prospective and current students can earn up to one year of college credit without tuition or textbook expense. At the Modern States website students can take high-quality test preparation courses and request vouchers for more than thirty CLEP exams, at no cost.
As part of Norfolk State University’s program of flexibility to meet student needs and aspirations, a student may earn up to 60 credit hours through the CLEP General and Subject Examinations.

Jocellyn needed to complete Language requirements for her NSU degree. Modern States helped her earn 9 credits for Spanish, with practice questions and reading passages that prepared her for what she would experience on the CLEP exam. NSU Modern States Student Success Postcard
