Vision
The NSU Writing Center will foster a culture of writing, which utilizes current composition pedagogy that both recognizes unique linguistic identities and strengthens students’ writing proficiency and intellectual curiosity while meeting expectations of scholarly, professional, and global communities.
mission
The NSU Writing Center empowers students, faculty, and staff across all disciplines by providing qualified consultants who use evidence-based composition practices and adaptable resources that address the campus community’s needs while developing students’ awareness of and confidence in their individual writing processes.
linguistic equity statement
As a writing center at an HBCU, we affirm that students possess their own patterns and distinct varieties of language and that language is inextricable from a person’s identity. We acknowledge that English is a living language that is constantly evolving and no English dialect is superior. We aim to uphold writers’ voices and intentions, guiding them to become critical users of multiple language conventions within diverse discourse communities.
