About Love Scholarship Program

Beyoncé, Jay-Z and Tiffany & Co. Create the About Love Scholarship Program for Students at Five Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs)

The Shawn Carter Foundation, together with BeyGOOD and Tiffany & Co., have made a $2 million dollar gift to five select HBCUs: Norfolk State University, Lincoln University, Bennett College, University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, and Central State University. The Carters said, “We are honored to announce the About Love scholarship.”

“Together, we pledge USD $2M in scholarship funding for students in the arts and creative fields at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs),” the Shawn Carter Foundation announced in a Thursday morning tweet on Sept. 9, 2021.

“Norfolk State University is honored to be one of the inaugural recipients of the About Love Scholarship by Tiffany & Co., the Shawn Carter Foundation (Jay-Z) and BeyGOOD (Beyoncé) in support of performing arts, history and communications,” said NSU President Dr. Javaune Adams-Gaston. “The programs at Norfolk State help to produce top-notch talent in music, drama and theatre, fine arts, history and communications.”

The university has determined the awarding of the About Love Scholarships based on economic need and academic standing.

“The resources will help to close financial gaps for some of our students and allow them to finish their degree programs. In addition, the About Love Scholarship will help foster the endless creativity of our students, help them pursue their dreams, and make positive contributions to society,” said President Adams-Gaston. “We thank these agencies for their generosity and for being allies in our mission to create the next generation of thought leaders.”
